Shortly after leaving Global Crossing, Smith joined Eschelon Telecom, a holding company for telecommunications businesses; he began his career as the company’s COO (Chief Operating Officer) in 1999 and maintained that role until July 2003. In August of 2003, Smith served as the company’s CEO, maintaining that position until 2007, and in 2008, he was named President of Eschelon Telecom. Currently, Smith is the CEO and President of Securus, a business providing telecommunication solutions to upwards of 3000 law enforcement, correction agencies, and public safety agencies.
