In recognition of October being Breast Cancer Awareness Month, Dr. David Samadi felt it appropriate to host Dr. Cynara Coomer appear on the October 15, 2017, edition of his show “Sunday Housecall LIVESTREAM”.
Dr. Coomer is affiliated with the Comprehensive Breast Center at Northwell Health Staten Island University Hospital where she serves as Chief of Breast Surgery and the facility’s director.
Dr. Coomer and Dr. Samadi were colleagues at Lenox Hill Hospital in NYC. Dr. Samadi describes her as a respected former colleague and a premier authority on breast health.
Prior to her position at Staten Island University Hospital Dr. Coomer served as a breast surgeon at NYC’s Mount Sinai Hospital. During her tenure at Mount Sinai, Dr. Coomer’s practice focused on benign and malignant diseases of the breast.
Dr. Coomer expressed gratitude for being able to discuss not only breast cancer awareness but other important medical subjects as well. She also expressed pleasure at being a part of Dr. Samadi’s crusade to promote awareness of breast and prostate health and other medical conditions.

A board-certified urologic oncologist Dr. David Samadi specializes in diagnosing and treating cancers of the urinary tract in men and women and cancers of the male reproductive system. He is currently Lenox Hill Hospital’s Chairman of Urology and Chief of Robotic Surgery.
Dr. Samadi’s areas of expertise include traditional surgeries, prostate, robotic, and laparoscopic surgery. Having earned a full scholarship to study at New York’s Stony Brook University Dr. Samadi received a degree in biochemistry from that school.
In 1994 he received his MD from SUNY Stony Brook School of Medicine. He studied urology at Montefiore Medical Center. He received his training in proctology at both Montefiore and Albert Einstein College of Medicine.
At Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center Dr. Samadi completed a fellowship in oncology. His fellowship in robotic radical prostatectomy was completed at France’s Henri Mondor Hospital Creteil.
Dr. Samadi began his medical career at Columbia Presbyterian Hospital. He has been an instructor at the Mount Sinai School of Medicine.
Before joining the staff at Lenox Hill Hospital in 2013 he served as Vice Chair of Mount Sinai Hospital’s Urology Department and the Chief of Robotics and Minimally Invasive Surgery. The same year he moved to Lenox Hill Dr. Samadi became a Professor of Urology at Hofstra North Shore-LIJ School of Medicine.
